Kaleidoscope

Have you ever played with a kaleidoscope?  They are tubes made from all different kinds of materials and inside of them are mirrors that reflect off of pieces of glass, plastic or whatever else is put in them.  When the light reflects off of the mirrors and the colorful pieces; images appear that you can see.  You can turn the kaleidoscope and the image will change.   These are beautiful images you see.
I want you to look at something with me.  In order for this to work, you have to have all the pieces working in sync with each other.  The main component consists of pieces of mirror that cause light to reflect off of the broken pieces.  Now I want you to imagine that your soul is the colorful pieces the light reflects off of in the kaleidoscope.  When all the parts work together correctly, a beautiful image is created.  However, if you turn it or manipulate it even slightly the picture changes.  The thing that really caught my attention was the act of the light reflecting.
Reflection has many different definitions. 1.) It is the return of rays, beams, or sound from a surface.  2.) It is the reverting of the mind to that which has already occupied it. 3.) Reflection is also the result of meditation.  It is a thought or opinion that is brought about after attentive consideration, especially thoughts suggested by truth.  Hmmmm.  The reverting back to what already occupied it and a thought or opinion brought about by a suggestion of truth. Very interesting.
God’s purpose for us was that we live in harmony and peace with Him.  In the Garden of Eden, Satan manipulated Eve by suggesting a truth to her and turning it just slightly to make it seem real.  We all know what happens after that.  Adam and Eve are kicked out of Eden and thus we have the fall of man.  Now we have sin in our lives and we have to choose to live for God.  The initial plan was that we were made in the perfect image of God, and we still are, but there is a war going on in our souls.  We have to love God enough to let Him live in us and choose to walk uprightly in righteousness.
When we accept Jesus as our personal Savior and give our lives to Him, the light that is of Him is reflected on our souls.  It is a beautiful image for others to see.  They want to experience what you experience because it is just that wonderful.  However, if you let the enemy manipulate you with untruths and the pieces shift just slightly, the image will change.  Then we are not living as God wanted us to.  1 Corinthians 13:12 in the New Living Translation says, “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.  All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.”
Another scripture really spoke to me as I was writing this.  It is from 2 Corinthians 3:18,  And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”  If we keep His ways, the reflection that will be seen will be beautiful beyond your imagination.
Don’t let Satan sneak in and deceive you with his half-truths.  Don’t let him feed on your soul and stop you from being who God created you to be.  Satan is a liar, a magnificent one.  John 8:44 tells you, “For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.”  The devil is the Father of Lies.  He is adept at trickery and manipulation.
In Ancient times, they didn’t have mirrors like they do today.  Their mirrors were made of highly polished metal.  When you looked in to them the image was distorted.  The person had to stand at different angles to get a “picture” of what they looked at.  When you listen to the devil and let his lies get into your heart, you are distorting the perfect image of God inside of you.  If the original image is distorted then the reflection is going to be doubly distorted.
            My challenge to you:
1.)  Read the Word of God and hide it in your heart.
2.)  Remember what the Lord has promised you
3.)  Let’s Jesus’ light shine through you
4.)  Pat the devil on his head and send him away
5.)  Take back control of your inner man
God Bless,
